Web Hosting - HostGator Review
Confessions of a Web Hosting
Noobie
The lifeline of a website is the web hosting. If you have a
mediocre to terrible web hosting service, your online venture
is going to suffer and potentially shutdown altogether. The
first thing you need to know is there are thousands of web
hosting companies, resellers and affiliates and all most all of
them have one thing in common… they all claim to be the best!
My first web hosting company made that claim but turned out to
be a pain in the butt all the way around.
First, My Confession…
Although I’m not a Catholic, here goes… “father, forgive me for
I have sinned!” What was my sin? The first one was I fell for
the sales pitch and plopped down $122.00 buckaroos, believing
the web hosting company would handle any and everything my
account needed, when it needed it. Let me put it to you
bluntly; THEY LIED! My second sin was not doing my homework of
web hosting companies and my third sin was, I didn’t receive
any recommendations from a trusted source. If you get the third
one, depending on the source, you can skip past the first two
sins.
I’m Gonna Get You Sucka
The cost was $49.00 per month for ONE domain. If I needed to
add any additional features, such as MySQL, or something as
simple as adding another e-mail address, I had to put in a
trouble ticket and wait for a response, which might take
forever. THEN, on top of that, the owner was a narcissistic
bull headed IT guru who wouldn’t take advice if Jesus appeared
to him in a burning bush. When I transferred from under his
regime to another web hosting company, things got a little
better, but it wasn’t until I found Hostgator that I learned
what it meant to be in control of your web hosting account.
Getting Started Off On The Right
Track The true measure of a service oriented
company is its customer support and tech support. One of the
great things I appreciate about Hostgator, (and I’ve been with them going
on five years) is even through the growing pains they have
remained true to taking care of people like you and me.
HostGator provides support through all possible means (i.e.,
online chat, contact page, telephone, e-mail, FAQs,
tutorials, forum discussions, aim, icq, msn, or yim. Taking
that point into considering this, there should be no site
issue that can't be dealt within a short time by HostGator’s
highly attentive level of customer service.

Are There Any Other Good Web Hosting
Options?
Sure! But when you’re starting off, you don’t have time
to learn the IT techie lingo, algorithms, MySQL setup, FTP ins
and outs, etc., etc. If you had time to do that, you’d go and
get a Cisco Certification or a MSCE Certification. What you
have time to do is click on a BUTTON or ICON and, BAM… the
feature or application WORKS! This is what you get with
Hostgator! You also get reliable servers,
an easy to use control panel, no long term commitment at all
and prices so low, you’re gonna wanna sing, “It’s a
miracle!”
